We Are in a Change Phase — I Believe We Will Do Greatly

A sneak peek of an upcoming interview with President Donald Trump, scheduled to air on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” on NBC, shows him stating that the U.S. economy is doing well following a sort of “transition period.”

Host Kristen Welker raised concerns some Wall Street figures have about a potential recession, asking Trump if he’s okay with the idea of enduring a short-term recession if it means achieving long-term objectives.

Trump responded, “Well, you know, while you mention some folks on Wall Street who say that, I have to point out something different. We actually have the largest economy in history. Why not focus on that?”

Welker reiterated her point, saying, “That’s exactly what I’m asking—it’s the same question.”

Trump continued with a hint of optimism, saying, “Many on Wall Street believe this could be the biggest windfall ever.”

Welker followed up, probing again, “So, in the longer view, is a short-term recession acceptable?”

Trump replied, “Look, yes, everything is okay. What we’re noticing is a transition period. I think we’re on the right path to doing great things.”
