MIAMI, Fla. — After taking part in the Formula 1 sprint at the Miami Grand Prix, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc voiced his frustration regarding the SF-25’s underwhelming pace.
Things didn’t get any better for him on Saturday morning.
As the grid hit the track for a reconnaissance lap before the sprint race, the weather was wet. Ferrari equipped Leclerc’s SF-25 with intermediate tires, but those might not have been the best choice for the conditions. During the reconnaissance lap, Leclerc lost control and crashed into the wall, damaging the right rear tire in the process.
He attempted to make it back to the garage but ultimately had to stop before the F1 sprint race even started.

While in the car, Leclerc could be heard apologizing to his team, saying, “I’m so sorry… sorry.”
It’s raining in Miami as the F1 sprint race is set to begin at noon local time. The rain is expected to taper off just before the lights turn on for the start, yet drivers might still require wet tires for the 19 laps ahead.
