Report: Trump Will Host a Military Parade to Celebrate the Army’s 250th Anniversary, Recognizing Service Members and Veterans

President Donald Trump is planning a military parade set for June. It’ll celebrate both military veterans and active service members, coinciding with the 250th birthday of the US Army.

According to some reports, this event is slated for June 14th. It will be quite a milestone, not just for the army but also for Trump himself.

“We really value our military and take exceptional pride in showing off fighter jets,” said Defense Secretary Pete Hegses in a statement. “This parade is going to be the largest and most beautiful one our country has ever seen for the Army’s 250th.”

The celebration will take place at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Planning documents indicate an extensive setup: around 6,600 participants, 150 military vehicles, 50 helicopters, seven bands, and thousands of civilians.

There are plans for at least 11 Corps and Division soldiers to showcase various units, including Strikers, Bradleys, and artillery. It’s quite a lineup, really.

Seven Army bands and Golden Knight parachute jumpers are also scheduled to make appearances. This will be categorized as a national special security event, complete with concerts and fireworks afterward.

The White House mentioned that the parade will feature historical reenactors and military equipment from various conflicts, spanning from the Revolutionary War to modern-day operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Active-duty service members from U.S. military academies are also expected to be highlighted.

“The President is gearing up for a historic celebration of the Army’s 250th birthday, honoring countless selfless Americans who risked everything for our freedom,” stated Vince Haley, director of the White House National Policy Council.

“It’s been just 250 years since the first American patriot sacrificed for independence,” he added. “We owe it all to them and to all the heroes who have continued our legacy since then.”

Trump has long called for a parade to honor the nation’s military. The idea sparked after he witnessed a French military display in 2017, leading him to think, “We should definitely do something like that.”

However, getting a parade organized hasn’t been straightforward. There have been arguments about the costs, which could reach up to $92 million, and concerns regarding potential damage to roads from heavy military equipment.
