Buffett to Step Down as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway

Warren Buffett announced his decision to resign as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway by the end of this year during his annual shareholders meeting on Saturday.

In a noteworthy address, the renowned investor, often called the “Omaha Oracle,” shared that he will pass the leadership role to Vice Chairman Greg Abel.

“I think it’s time for Greg to become the company’s chief executive at the end of the year,” Buffett stated.

Buffett expressed that international trade is a sound method for achieving balance but dismissed tariffs as an ineffective solution. He believes that global stability hinges on the economic prosperity of various nations.

“We should try to trade with other parts of the world,” he encouraged. “We should do our best, and they should do their best.”

“When there are 7.5 billion people you don’t really like and 300 million people screaming about how they did it, that’s a big mistake in my opinion,” he remarked during the meeting.

Buffett also commented on the recent fluctuations in the stock market following tariff declarations by Trump, labeling the unrest as “really nothing.” He referenced past market dips, noting that his company’s shares had halved on three occasions over the past 60 years.

He highlighted a significant downturn from 1930, the year he was born, when the Dow Jones average plummeted from 240 to 41 during the Great Depression. Currently, the Dow Jones Industrial Average stands at $41,317.43.
