Warner Discusses Rubio’s Performance on CNN
Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) expressed disappointment regarding Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s performance during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.
Host Jake Tapper questioned whether Rubio could effectively manage two significant roles. Warner replied that it’s not feasible for anyone to excel in both jobs simultaneously, as they require vastly different skills. He noted the challenges of working diplomatically with both allies and adversaries and criticized Trump’s approach, which he believes has harmed relationships with allies.
Tapper probed further, asking Warner if he views Rubio as capable. Warner acknowledged their history of working together but conveyed his disappointment in some of Rubio’s actions as secretary that seemed to align with Trump’s views. He mentioned that Rubio recently attended a cabinet meeting where members praised Trump as a strong leader.
