Lewis Capaldi unexpectedly returns to the stage for a charity event.

Louis Capaldi made his first stage appearance in two years during a charity event in Edinburgh aimed at raising funds for suicide prevention.

This surprise performance took place on Friday night at a concert featuring Tom Walker and Nina Nesbitt at the Edinburgh Assembly Halls, alongside the campaign “Living Miserably.”

The last time Capaldi performed was at Glastonbury 2023, during which he discussed his anxiety and subsequent decision to take a break from performing to focus on his health.

He mentioned that since stepping back, he’s observed significant improvements in managing both his Tourette syndrome and anxiety.

On Friday, Capaldi’s participation was described as a “last-minute decision,” with fans informed to stick around for a surprise act in addition to Nesbitt.

According to the BBC, Walker expressed his excitement about Capaldi joining, noting the pressures artists face, especially after taking a break.

This concert was the first of three phone-free charity performances, with future shows planned at the Albert Hall in Stirling on May 6 and at Glasgow’s Old Fruit Market on May 10. Audience members were asked to store their phones in sealed pouches.

Hailing from Basgate in West Lothian, Capaldi has previously had to navigate challenges during performances, including voice tics. He conducted a virtual acoustic concert in 2020 to support the same charity, raising funds calmly.

The singer reflected on the intense pressures of fame in his 2023 Netflix documentary, emphasizing the impact on his mental and physical well-being.

Walker highlighted that this particular concert was crafted to provide a secure environment for Capaldi and his fans.
