At least one person lost their life when up to 14 individuals were shot during a party in Houston early Sunday morning, according to police reports.
The Houston Police Department received alerts about gunfire around 12:50 AM in the 6000 block of Cherry Hill in southeastern Houston, as stated by Aide Patricia Cantu in a news conference.
Officers arrived just minutes after the initial calls and found multiple people injured at various locations around the residence.
It was a family gathering, and it’s believed that some uninvited guests were asked to leave. An individual reportedly began firing shots, which led to others returning fire, Cantu noted.
The Houston Fire Department confirmed at least one fatality, while several victims were in serious condition and received surgical care at local hospitals.
Police detained several individuals but were unsure if the shooting suspect was among them as the investigation was ongoing Sunday morning, Cantu added.
