Rep. Jasmine Crockett from Texas reacted to President Donald Trump on social media, addressing his comments about “smart, bold black women” and calling them “terrifying.” Her response followed an interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” where she labeled Trump as having a “low IQ” and expressed worries about the Democratic Party’s future.
Crockett pointed out in her post that Trump frequently mentions her, implying he’s threatened by intelligent women who speak the truth. She remarked, “Every time you say my name, you remind the world that you are afraid of clever, bold black women who will tell the truth and hold you accountable.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has faced such backlash. After a recent interview with him, Crockett stated on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show that she would “absolutely” take an IQ test in person against Trump.
Crockett, who is in her first term as a Democrat, has found herself in hot water before for various comments. Earlier this year, she received backlash for an insensitive remark about Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
In a recent post, to add context, Crockett expressed her outrage over Trump supporters who use racially charged names and target individuals with disabilities. She emphasized the importance of holding everyone accountable, not just political adversaries. “Stay the same energy for all people, not just your political enemies,” she wrote.
Her message suggested that instead of focusing on her remarks, Trump should concentrate on issues that affect the lives of the people who elected him. Meanwhile, reactions from fellow politicians, like Randy Weber from Texas, have shown the divisions within the party as he plans to introduce a resolution condemning her words.
The White House and Crockett have yet to provide any statements following these events.
