Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen suggests he may retire after 2025: ‘Winding down’

Thielen’s Return in 2025 Raises Questions

Adam Thielen, wide receiver for the Panthers, is set to return for the 2025 season. However, the 35-year-old hinted that this might mark the beginning of the end for his NFL career.

During a recent community event, Thielen shared that after discussions with his family, they expressed a desire for him to play another season. Yet, they also acknowledged that 2025 could be his last year in football. “Maybe,” he remarked. “Every year, I tell you all to reflect on what you give to this game. I talked to my family, and they want me to keep playing.”

Thielen, with a decade of experience under his belt, spent the majority of his career with the Vikings before joining the Panthers two seasons ago. He joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2013, gradually moving from the practice squad to earning a spot on the 52-man roster.

Notably, he had standout seasons in 2017 and 2018, each time surpassing 1,200 receiving yards and earning Pro Bowl accolades. After being released by the Vikings in 2023, he signed with the Panthers.

Thielen noted, “Right now, I’m focusing on being the best player I can be. It’s vital to adopt that mindset. Once the season wraps up, I’ll evaluate everything, including where I stand and where the team is heading. This is something we’ll work through as a family.”
