Trump: Stephen Miller favored for new national security adviser

Trump Considers Miller for National Security Adviser

On Sunday, President Trump indicated that Stephen Miller’s Deputy Chief of Staff ranks high among potential candidates for the national security adviser position.

“Stephen Miller is at the top of the list. I think he might as well already have that job,” Trump shared with News Nation’s Libby Dean during a flight on Air Force One, when asked about Miller’s interest in the role.

“He plays a crucial part in the administration,” Trump emphasized.

The president noted that he expects to make a decision regarding the replacement within the next six months.

Recently, Trump reassigned former national security adviser Mike Waltz to serve as his nominee for the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Concurrently, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stepped in as the interim national security adviser.

Axios reported that Miller is “gaining attention” in Washington while looking for a successor for Waltz.

As the principal architect of Trump’s immigration policies and homeland security adviser, Miller often represents the administration’s most contentious deportation strategies.

If appointed as national security adviser, this would signify a significant shift for Miller within Trump’s close circle.

He was involved in a controversial meeting that mistakenly included journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, during which he effectively halted discussions among top officials regarding Trump’s strategy against Houthi rebels that pose a risk to shipping routes in the Red Sea.
