Naomi Osaka wins her first tennis title since 2021.

Naomi Osaka made a strong comeback to tennis, capturing her first title since winning the Australian Open in 2021. She clinched the trophy at the French L’Open 35 De Saint-Malo, defeating Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan in a straight sets victory of 6-1, 7-5.

Interestingly, Osaka shared, “It’s kind of ironic to win my first trophy on the surface I thought was the worst,” in an update on X. Then she took a moment to address her critics, saying, “This is for everyone who has constantly doubted me,” alongside a photo featuring the recruitment application.

Osaka boasts seven career singles titles with a win-loss record of 287-166. She was ranked number one in January 2019 but has slipped to 50th as of January this year.

Her journey has faced challenges; she parted ways with her coach after an early exit in the second round of the U.S. Open last September. It’s been a while since she reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam, and she fell in the third round at this year’s Australian Open.

Looking ahead, Osaka aims to build momentum before the French Open, where she was eliminated in the second round the previous year.
