Ripple Gives $25 Million RLUSD to Aid US Schools and Teachers – U.Today

Ripple’s $25 Million Donation to Education Nonprofits

Ripple has announced a significant $25 million donation to two prominent U.S. education nonprofits, DonorsChoose and Teach for America. The funds, primarily sourced from Ripple’s own stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD), will be utilized for various classroom projects, tutoring programs, and teacher-led initiatives across the nation.

This donation is set to begin during Teacher Appreciation Week, with the aim of bolstering support for teachers and students by funding essential supplies, innovative programs, and fresh ideas within schools.

A large portion of the funds will be sent using RLUSD, marking it as one of the first major partnerships in the nonprofit sector to leverage a crypto-based stablecoin. Ripple emphasizes that this approach enhances the speed and efficiency of financial transactions.

Stablecoins are gaining traction, with recent data indicating they comprise over half of all transaction volumes in the blockchain space.

Ripple collaborates with DonorsChoose to fulfill numerous teacher requests for classroom resources. Additionally, they aim to broaden the Ignite Tutor Program, experiment with new educational models through “reinvention labs,” and assist in training for new teachers.

“Ripple has always promoted economic and educational access for everyone. We are joining forces with some of DonorsChoose and Teach for America’s leading organizations to benefit countless classrooms across the United States,” stated Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple.

This $25 million contribution highlights Ripple’s ongoing commitment to philanthropy, especially in areas where cryptocurrency tools can make a meaningful impact. Since 2018, the company claims to have donated over $200 million globally to various nonprofit organizations, research, and social initiatives. Ripple also encourages its employees to volunteer and give back throughout the year.
