Dave Portnoy Angry After Antisemitic Incident at His Bar

Barstool Sports leader Dave Portnoy comments on the reaction to two young individuals who displayed anti-Semitic signs at bars in Philadelphia.

Portnoy expressed his outrage after witnessing a waitress and two patrons holding signs that read “Fuck Jews.” When he first got wind of this shocking incident, he made it clear that he intended to take strong action against those responsible.

“I’ve been so angry and shaking for the past couple of hours,” he stated in a video addressing the situation. “I’m going to make it my mission to ruin these people’s lives. I won’t stop until I get what I want.”

“Do you really think I’m going to tolerate this at my bar?” he questioned, emphasizing that he will actively confront such behavior.

After looking into the matter, he dismissed two waitresses who were involved and identified the two young men responsible.

However, instead of seeking vengeance, Portnoy opted for a more educational response, which has garnered significant praise.

“I spoke with the families involved. We’re sending these kids to Auschwitz—yes, the former concentration camp,” he revealed, suggesting that visiting could provide them with a crucial learning experience.

“They’ll tour concentration camps in Poland. Hopefully, this will alter their perspectives. It’s important to realize the weight of their words,” he added, viewing this approach as a fair consequence.

Others, including actor Ben Stiller and Pennsylvania Republican Senator Dave McCormick, commended Portnoy for his considerate reaction to a deeply troubling incident. McCormick noted on social media how Portnoy’s swift action not only confronts hate but also provides an opportunity for education about anti-Semitism.

He emphasized that everyone must stand up against anti-Semitism whenever it rears its ugly head.

Stiller voiced his agreement with Portnoy’s approach in handling the situation.

X CEO Linda Jaccarino praised Portnoy for taking real steps toward change, highlighting the need to address anti-Semitism whenever it surfaces.

On the other hand, some criticized Portnoy’s decision, arguing that the educational trips seemed more like a reward than meaningful accountability for the hateful actions displayed.
