Marlow expressed relief that Beagles are no longer subjected to experiments, calling it “basically beagle torture” that was funded by taxpayers. He found it particularly disturbing that a journal reported on NIH funding for research involving insects that consume Beagles. He questioned why such experiments were allowed to proceed while the Beagle studies were halted.
