Authorities report that Madison Marshall, the mother of the one-year-old Oakley Snow, is preparing to testify against her ex-boyfriend Lone Waters. This comes after tragic events leading to Oakley’s death, with her body discovered stuffed in a dresser drawer.
Marshall, 24, is involved in a plea deal concerning the death and dependency charges related to her child. Reports indicate that she has pleaded guilty to one count of dependency and another related to the fatality of her daughter. Her case has potential sentencing of up to 25 years, dependent on the stipulations of her plea bargain with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
Previously, Marshall admitted to law enforcement that she, along with Waters, was involved in the circumstances surrounding Oakley’s death, despite Waters not being the child’s father.
During her expected testimony, Marshall is likely to recount an incident from February 9, 2023, when she heard Waters yelling at Oakley. Following that, it seems she witnessed Waters carry the limp child, after which she attempted to assist Oakley by pouring cold water over her face. However, before she could call for help, Waters allegedly interfered, slamming the phone from her hand.
Afterward, Waters reportedly wrapped Oakley’s lifeless body in a blanket and placed her in an SUV, and the couple disposed of her in an abandoned house, hiding her in a dresser drawer. Extensive searches by the police and the FBI initially yielded no results until Marshall led investigators to the abandoned site about an hour south of Indianapolis.
The condition of Oakley’s body when discovered highlighted a disturbing history of abuse. According to court documents, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears expressed that the little girl was subject to ongoing mistreatment and that the assault leading to her death reflected a broader pattern of abuse.
Mears stated, “Her time on this planet is highly defined by the adults abusing her, and the allegations here are that the abuse ultimately led to her death.”
In the month prior to the tragedy, Marshall reportedly took Oakley and her seven-month-old son from her father’s home. As part of her judicial agreement, she is required to provide full testimony in the trial against Waters. Failure to comply would lead to a retraction of her plea deal, placing her on trial for the original charges. The trial was set to start on May 9 but has been postponed to June 9 to accommodate Waters’ legal defense team.
