South Carolina man concealed himself in ex-girlfriend’s shower and threatened her with a knife in shocking ‘joke’ to ‘improve the atmosphere’: police

This incident was, to put it mildly, quite serious.

Authorities have reported that a man from South Carolina was hiding in the shower of his former girlfriend’s apartment and brandished a knife when she returned home early Sunday. It seems he was trying to, uh, lighten the atmosphere in a rather alarming way.

Jackson Column Arnold, 25, had covered most of his face with a pair of his ex’s bike shorts and a hat, but was otherwise naked from the waist down. This bizarre situation unfolded around midnight, according to Officer Charleston, leaving the woman terrified.

The victim claimed that Arnold held a knife to his own head, pushing him away in the process. He pretended to slice his throat, though the blade never made contact with his skin, as noted in a police report.

After that, he allegedly choked her until she was able to pull the shorts off his face, realizing that her attacker was indeed her ex-boyfriend. This revelation didn’t ease her fear at all, as she confessed to the police that she feared for her life, thinking she was about to be assaulted in her own apartment.

Despite everything, Arnold maintained that he simply wanted to “surprise” her and “brighten the mood.” At the scene, officers found his underwear in the bathroom, but he was wearing jeans when they arrived, likely due to a 911 call made by the victim.

According to the reports, Arnold had taken quite some time to orchestrate this disturbing prank, even parking his vehicle several hundred feet away from where the victim lived, which he allegedly tracked using the Life360 app while leaving his phone at home.

He has since been charged with assault and battery, first-degree robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
