Michigan’s Sherrone Moore likely to face a 2-game suspension, according to reports.

The ongoing theft scandal involving Conor Stallions is poised to have repercussions for Michigan’s football team in 2025. It appears that Coach Sherrone Moore will face a two-game suspension next season. This stems from accusations that he did not fully cooperate with the NCAA’s investigation into the team’s operations under Coach Jim Harbaugh back in 2023, as reported by the Associated Press.

The suspension is likely to affect Michigan’s third and fourth games of the season, where they are slated to play Central Michigan on September 13 and Nebraska the following week.

There are still voluntary sanctions connected to the Wolverines that remain undisclosed. The football program stirred quite a controversy during the previous season, particularly given their undefeated record that year.

Although the NCAA lacks specific rules against stealing signs from observers, Michigan prohibits the use of electronic devices to scout future opponents and gather their signals.

Stallions, a former staff member accused of the signal theft, has been steering clear of media attention while coaching at a high school. Records from Big Ten schools indicate that he had purchased tickets to attend games, with an aim to gather information regarding play signals.

After stepping down from his position at Michigan, Stallions did not take part in the governing body’s investigation.

Moore, who faced challenges during his time as an assistant under Harbaugh, allegedly deleted a crucial text message related to Stallions. This message has since been retrieved and submitted to the NCAA. Moore insists he is cooperating with the NCAA in the ongoing investigation.

As of now, Moore has an 8-5 record in his first full season as Michigan’s head coach. With a strong recruiting class this offseason, there’s a growing expectation that the Wolverines will be serious contenders for the Big Ten title.

Michigan is set to kick off their schedule against New Mexico on August 30.
