Israel announces urgent airport evacuation order in Houthi-controlled capital

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) issued an unusual notice on social media on Tuesday, urging individuals near the Sanaa International Airport in Yemen to evacuate promptly.

Col. Avichay Adraee stated, “We request everyone to leave the airport area—Sanaa International Airport. We will soon issue warnings regarding the need for evacuation,” along with maps highlighting the surrounding areas in red.

“Failure to evacuate puts you at risk,” he added.

Israel strikes Yemeni port cities following Houthi attack on Tel Aviv airport

According to reports from witnesses and the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV, the IDF conducted four airstrikes in the Yemeni capital on Tuesday.

Adraee did not confirm whether Israel would target the Houthi-controlled international airport, but the warning follows recent Israeli actions against Houthi targets in Yemen.

On Sunday, missiles launched by Iran-backed Houthis landed near Israel’s largest airport, seemingly as a reaction to Israel’s announced military operations in the Gaza Strip.

The Houthis claimed they would impose a “comprehensive air blockade” on Israel.

After the Houthi strike at Ben Gurion Airport, Israel deployed about 20 jets, targeting Al-Hodeidah, which is Yemen’s second largest port.

Accusations emerged from the Houthis that the U.S. was collaborating in strikes with Israel, although the U.S. denied any involvement.

The U.S. has recently intensified air and naval operations against the Houthis, reportedly striking around 800 Houthi locations since mid-March.
