Last week, police in South San Francisco shot and killed Brian Montana, the former guitarist for a well-known death metal band, after he fired at them.
Montana, 60, was reportedly upset over tree debris from a neighbor’s yard, leading to an escalating argument that ended with gunfire. Initially, it appears that the dispute heated up quite quickly.
Upon arrival, officers found Montana armed with multiple firearms and opened fire on them. According to a police press release, “armed suspects retreated to driveways and fired several times at officers using handguns, shotguns, and rifles.” They took cover behind vehicles and landscaping during the incident.
Following the news of Montana’s death, a friend shared a message on Instagram, expressing, “People should know that Brian Montana was a really nice guy. He was cheerful, a gentleman, a martial artist, and an incredibly talented guitarist.”
The friend also noted, “He clearly faced some challenges, and this is a tragic time for those who knew him. I think it’s important to honor his family and friends right now. There’s likely more to this story, but perhaps it’s not the time to delve too deeply into it.”
