Ripple will halt XRP updates after SEC ‘turned transparency against it’

Ripple Adjusts Reporting Strategy Amid SEC Scrutiny

Ripple has decided to discontinue its quarterly reports and change the way it discloses XRP holdings following disruptions caused by transparency measures that the SEC has utilized in the past.

In its latest XRP market report for the first quarter, Ripple aimed to enhance transparency about its holdings and offer insights that many in the industry are less willing to share. However, the report noted that its intended impact has not materialized, attributing this to prior leadership at the SEC.

While the new reporting format hasn’t been clearly defined yet, CEO Brad Garlinghouse reached out via social media to reassure stakeholders regarding Ripple and its activities related to XRP.

He stated, “Our commitment to transparency will not change as we evolve. We will keep sharing information about XRP holdings.” He emphasized that updates related to Ripple and XRP would be communicated through its existing social channels instead of being consolidated in quarterly summaries.

Garlinghouse mentioned that the first quarter of 2025 marked significant progress for Ripple, particularly with the resolution of the SEC issues and growing institutional interest in XRP exchange-traded products. He referenced that the new reports will take a different direction, hinting at a desire for enhancement.

Last month, Ripple and the SEC filed a joint complaint that led to a suspension of appeals, seeking a negotiated resolution regarding a lawsuit from 2020, which asserted that Ripple’s XRP token had not been registered. This situation almost reached a conclusion in 2023, with the ruling appearing favorable toward Ripple. However, the SEC decided to appeal the outcome in 2024.

Additionally, it was disclosed that Ripple Labs contributed nearly $4.9 million to Donald Trump’s inauguration in January.

Protos has reached out to Ripple for clarification on the format of its new reporting approach and will provide updates if a response is received.
