Man Released Illegally Under Biden Pleads Not Guilty to Murdering Georgia Grandmother

A man accused of murdering his grandmother in Cobb County, Georgia, has entered a not guilty plea.

The 21-year-old suspect, David Hector Sagastoum Rivas from Honduras, had previously been released due to former President Biden’s border policies. He pleaded not guilty on Monday, according to reports.

Authorities responded to the scene in early March, where the body of 52-year-old Kamilia Williams was discovered in bushes along Pat Mel Road. Rivas was subsequently charged with her murder.

As per the arrest warrant obtained, Rivas allegedly assaulted Williams, placed her in a chokehold until she lost consciousness, and applied his full weight on her neck, resulting in her death.

He faces charges including malicious murder, aggravated assault, rape, aggravated sexual battery, and necrophilia.

The Department of Homeland Security indicated that Rivas entered the United States illegally in March 2021 and was arrested by Border Patrol. Following a notice to appear, he was granted parole, and a judge ordered him removed in July 2023.

Reports state that he lived with two other undocumented immigrants who were also arrested.

Kamilia Williams was a mother of five and a grandmother. Her family expressed their grief over the loss.

In the wake of her death, Stephen Miller, a former aide to President Trump, criticized Biden’s border policy, calling it “pure evil.” He noted that under Biden, the U.S. has seen an influx of both legal and illegal immigrants, which he claims has led to increased risks and deaths among those making the journey to the U.S.
