Motown icon Smokey Robinson faces a lawsuit for sexual misconduct from four former housekeepers.

Smokey Robinson is facing serious allegations of sexual misconduct and false imprisonment, as outlined in a lawsuit filed on Tuesday by four former employees who have chosen to remain anonymous. The 85-year-old singer is claimed to have harassed and assaulted these housekeepers at his home in Chatsworth between 2006 and 2024. The lawsuit seeks $50 million in damages.

Additionally, his wife, Francis Robinson, is accused of contributing to a “hostile work environment.” The lawsuit contends that she was aware of Smokey’s alleged previous misconduct but failed to act to prevent it.

One of the complainants, referred to as Jane Doe 1 (JD1), worked for Robinson from January 2023 until February 2024. She claims she had to resign due to repeated instances of sexual assault and harassment, reportedly occurring at least seven times during her employment. With great reluctance, she felt she could not report these incidents, fearing the repercussions on her career and family due to Smokey’s celebrity status.

JD1 describes a disturbing pattern where Smokey would summon her to a “blue bedroom,” lock the door, and engage in inappropriate behavior while only dressed in his underwear. This same “ritual” allegedly took place with all four accusers.

In another case, Jane Doe 2 (JD2) claims that Smokey tried to meet her in areas of his home not covered by surveillance cameras, insisting on sexual acts. She recalls being assaulted multiple times and feeling threatened that Francis would retaliate if she refused.

The third complainant, Jane Doe 3 (JD3), alleges that Smokey raped her repeatedly throughout her time working for him. There was even an instance where Smokey allegedly attempted to offer her money in exchange for sexual favors after she resisted.

Jane Doe 4 (JD4) also claimed to have witnessed and experienced a hostile work environment, where Francis reportedly contributed to this through inappropriate language and aggressive behavior.

The lawsuit, which includes charges of negligence, emotional distress, gender violence, and violations of labor laws, asserts that the plaintiffs have suffered significant harm and humiliation due to Smokey Robinson’s actions.
