Pakistani Journalist Criticized For Sharing Old Gaza Video As Op Sindoor

Operation Sindoha Launched by Indian Forces

New Delhi: Indian military forces initiated Operation Sindoha on Wednesday, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This operation included 24 precise missile strikes on nine different locations, notably hitting the bases of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Bahawalpur and Rashkar-e-Taiba.

Interestingly, a Pakistani journalist shared an older video from Gaza, suggesting it was footage of the Indian strikes. Sabir Shakir, who works with Ary News, posted on X, showing missile strikes occurring that evening.

A Google Reverse Image Search revealed that the video was actually first reported by Kabul News in 2023, relating to the situation in Gaza.

It was reported that Israel ramped up its bombing of Gaza, leading to substantial casualties. Palestinian media cited that around 400 people, including women and children, perished, with many others trapped under rubble.

Many users took to social media, quickly identifying the video as outdated and calling out the journalists for spreading misinformation. One user remarked, “There’s a limit to lying—check the community notes below.” Another added that “everything is fake in this country,” while a third asked, “Why are you sharing old videos? Learn something.”

Context of India’s Military Actions

The strikes under Operation Sindoha were a response two weeks after a deadly attack in Pahargam that claimed 26 civilian lives. Reports indicate that over 70 terrorists were killed and more than 60 injured, which has considerably weakened these groups’ operational capabilities.

Following the operation, Indian forces expressed a commitment to deliver “justice” to the victims of the Pahargam attacks. New Delhi characterized its military actions as “focused, measured, and non-commercial.”

According to official statements, Pakistani military facilities were not targeted, and India showed significant restraint in choosing its targets. Clear evidence suggested that Pakistani forces were providing logistical support and safe havens to terrorist groups, and the operation aimed to reveal and dismantle these enduring ties between Pakistan’s military and cross-border terrorism.

Furthermore, the operation targeted the Hizbul Mujahideen facility in Mehmoona Joya, Siarkot, the Rashkar-e-Taiba base at Markaz Al Hadith, Barnara, as well as camps at Shawai Nara in Muzaffarabad. The Markaz Abbas facility linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad in Kotori was also among the targets attacked.
