JD Vance’s half-brother makes progress in the Cincinnati mayoral election

Vice President Vance’s brothers are poised to make it through the Cincinnati mayoral primary, aiming to unseat incumbent Democrat Aftabul. As reported by Decision Desk HQ.

Corey Bowman, a pastor and coffee shop owner, has secured a spot in the top two of the nonpartisan primary held on Tuesday. In this format, all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, compete, with the top two moving on to the general election in November.

While Bowman’s advancement seemed likely in this predominantly liberal city, the specific opponents he will face in the general election remains uncertain.

Vance expressed his support for Bowman’s campaign in a post on X earlier on Tuesday, describing him as a “good man with a heart to serve his community.”

“Go out there and vote for him!” Vance encouraged.

Bowman mentioned to The Cincinnati Enquirer in February that he had spoken to his half-brothers during the initial stages of his campaign, suggesting they encouraged him to seek public office.

Pureval, who has been in office since 2022 after an easy re-election, is expected to be favored for a second term. However, Bowman is bracing for a tough competition for the mayoral position.

It’s worth noting that Cincinnati hasn’t had a Republican mayor in over 50 years.
