Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak backs India on Operation Sindoor, calls it justified.

In a significant shift, former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has expressed support for India’s Operation Sindoah, which is aimed at the cross-border terrorist camps in response to recent attacks in Pahargam that resulted in 26 fatalities. Sunak emphasized that India’s actions are “justified” given the ongoing threat posed by terrorism, noting, “There’s no need to accept terrorist actions from territories controlled by other countries.” He added that terrorists should not be allowed to evade accountability.

Sunak had previously condemned the brutal attacks in Pahargam, which tragically took the lives of newlyweds and families seeking joy. “Our hearts break for them. We grieve together, reflecting the solidarity of Britain with India. Fear should not prevail,” he stated.

UK’s Stance on Operation Sindoah

UK Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds remarked on the need for dialogue, emphasizing the United Kingdom’s willingness to support both India and Pakistan in de-escalating tensions. He stated, “We consider ourselves friends of both nations and encourage stability and constructive discussions.” Furthermore, the UK Foreign Office has issued travel advisories for its citizens near the Indian-Pakistani border.

Details of Operation Sindoah

In a decisive military action, India executed missile strikes on nine locations within Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, reportedly killing around 70 terrorists and injuring 60 more, all as retaliation for the Pahargam assault. Sources suggest this operation was meticulously planned to minimize detection while maximizing impact.

In response, Pakistan has claimed it engaged in “indiscriminate firing,” which tragically led to the death of three civilians in Jammu and Kashmir.
