Biden: Chaotic Trump meeting with Zelensky is not fitting for America

Biden: Raucous Trump meeting with Zelensky 'beneath America'

In a recent interview, former President Biden took aim at President Trump, criticizing his handling of a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier this year.

Biden expressed his concerns during a conversation with the BBC, stating, “I felt that was under America the way it happened.” This interview aired on Wednesday, marking his first major public discussion since leaving office.

In February, Trump hosted Zelensky at the White House to talk about the trade of rare minerals, which is viewed as a crucial step toward peace in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. However, Zelensky left the meeting without a resolution.

More recently, Trump and Zelensky met again in Rome last month prior to Pope Francis’ funeral. The White House characterized this follow-up as a “very productive discussion,” and the mineral agreement was finalized the following week.

Yet, during a BBC Radio 4 interview in Delaware, Biden voiced apprehensions regarding the tone of foreign policy during Trump’s presidency. He remarked, “The way we talk now, ‘It’s the US Gulf,’ ‘We might have to get Panama back,’ maybe we need to win Greenland. [51st state],” adding, “What’s going on here?”

Biden questioned, “Which president spoke that way? It’s not who we are,” highlighting his discomfort with what he perceives as a departure from traditional American values.

At 82, Biden withdrew from the 2024 race last July, stepping back from a potential rematch with Trump. Meanwhile, Vice President Harris has announced her candidacy for the Democratic ticket, aiming to secure the nomination against the current president.
