Podcaster’s ‘revisionist history’ criticized by media outlet, overlooking its own issues

Revised Commentary on a New York Times Article

The latest piece from the New York Times, titled “Podcasters Wish to Side With History’s Villains,” illustrates a growing distrust among many Americans towards mainstream media.

The article critiques the revisionist perspectives of Darryl Cooper, who hosts The Martyr Made Podcast. It seems that the New York Times regards Cooper’s views as equally hypocritical, considering the publication’s involvement with the “1619 Project,” penned by Nikole Hannah-Jones.

Cooper has raised concerns about certain historical claims by the Times, including an assertion that “Winston Churchill, not Adolf Hitler, was the ‘major villain’ of the war,” and emphasized that “millions of people died in Nazi-held Eastern Europe.”

There are also criticisms aimed at the Times for giving a platform to figures like Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan.

“They seem quite anxious about this, needing some kind of mediation,” Glenn remarked. “It’s like, Joe Rogan can’t voice his opinions without a filter or something.”

Glenn then poses a question: “Is the New York Times the actual issue here? We should really examine the past to see if there were past concerns with other figures. One that comes to mind isn’t Darryl Cooper, but rather Nicole Hannah-Jones.”

“Jones spearheaded the ‘1619 Project,’ and in my opinion, she may be even more problematic. It feels as though she’s attempting to craft American history through her work.”

“It seems they’ve got an audience, and the Times can engage with that community. But what about when they audibly supported Hannah-Jones, even awarding her a Pulitzer for a project that many historians now label as unreliable, particularly in comparison to Cooper’s critiques?”

“When they proclaimed that 1619, rather than 1776, was the true inception of the nation, they displayed unwavering confidence in her assertions. They never questioned her qualifications, instead promoting and teaching her conclusions without hesitation,” he added.
