Former teammate Allen Lazard is being considered for the Steelers.

Could the Steelers be looking to enhance their receiving corps with a player that has a long history with Aaron Rodgers?

Recent reports suggest that might be the case. On Wednesday, it was mentioned that Allen Lazard, a wide receiver for the Jets, is a candidate to be traded to the Steelers, especially after George Pickens was traded to the Cowboys earlier that day.

Lazard has been at the center of trade discussions since he took an $8.5 million pay cut last month. Last season, he had a connection with Rodgers, catching passes during their time together.

Before joining the Jets in 2023, Lazard spent five seasons alongside Rodgers in Green Bay.

In the previous year, the 29-year-old had 37 catches and six touchdowns for 530 yards across 12 games. In his season with the Jets, after Zach Wilson stepped in for Rodgers due to an Achilles injury, he recorded 23 receptions for 311 yards and one touchdown.

Lazard, originally from Iowa, signed a four-year, $44 million deal with the Jets back in March 2023.

The Steelers are in need of another experienced receiver after trading Pickens for a third-round pick in 2022 and a fifth-round pick in 2027.

Pittsburgh made a significant move earlier this offseason, acquiring DK Metcalf from Seattle and signing him to a hefty five-year, $150 million extension at 27 years old.

There’s been notable interest in Rodgers as well, with several MVPs visiting the Steelers’ facility recently, emphasizing their focus on bolstering the roster.

Rodgers himself has been uncertain about his future, mentioning in late April that personal matters are a priority right now. He stated he’s keeping an open mind but hasn’t committed to a specific direction regarding his decisions.

This offseason, the Steelers also re-signed Mason Rudolph as their veteran backup and selected Ohio State’s Wil Howard with their 185th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Last season, the Steelers finished with a 10-7 record, with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson leading the team to the playoffs. Both quarterbacks found new homes in New York through free agency, with Fields joining the Jets and Wilson reportedly linking with the Giants.
