Trump’s First 100 Days: A Review

Reflections on Trump’s First 100 Days

Trump’s initial 100 days felt like trying to drink from a fire hose. Those on the left have a brief window to gather their thoughts before he potentially shifts his approach.

Looking back, a few random reflections come to mind—thoughts that didn’t quite make it into a full article.

  1. Democrats often express concerns over Trump’s divided attention. AOC recently mentioned that there’s too much division in the country, which seems accurate from her perspective and undoubtedly complicates matters.
  2. By merging MAGA’s anti-DEI stance with RFK Jr.’s ideas, there’s talk about possibly banning or deporting certain unpopular figures.
  3. The Pope has passed away, and he was remembered as a humble man who inspired hope. He lived modestly, leaving behind a Vatican apartment for a one-bedroom studio and drove an old compact car. This made many feel, perhaps, that they could also aspire to such heights, even amidst personal struggles.
  4. Trump is set to attend the late Pope’s funeral. Some on the left jokingly suggested he should take up the papacy, and a meme circulated about it. The Pope was notably beloved, drawing thousands who lined the streets of Rome for his funeral, a significant turnout considering the global Catholic population.
  5. Joe Biden was also present at the funeral and humorously asked, “Whose wedding is this?” as he entered the cathedral.
  6. Barack Obama attended as well, though it’s well-known they didn’t see eye to eye, particularly on some fundamental beliefs.
  7. Under Trump, tariffs on Chinese goods have increased, and retaliatory measures followed. Honestly, I think it’s a bit like eating too many Chinese takeout boxes—you think you’re full, but soon enough, you’re hungry again.
  8. Cambodia and Vietnam were the first countries to impose significant tariffs. Between trade issues and other factors, businesses tied to Asian massage parlors have seen a downturn. Workers in these places are now required to include disclaimers suggesting they can “connect” quickly.
  9. Washington has confirmed the NFL Draft will take place in DC, coinciding with the anniversary of the Civil War’s conclusion. Democrats are celebrating by planning a play at Ford’s Theatre, extending invitations in a rather cheeky manner.
  10. On a whim, Tiger Woods and Saquon Barkley played golf with Trump. My take? I’d happily play golf with any former president, regardless of their party affiliation. If a past Democratic president asked me for a round, I’d say, “Sure, where should we tee off?”
  11. With egg and gas prices dropping under Trump, the judicial system has become quite politicized; the DC District Court even ordered a return to previous rates.
  12. Trump and his supporters often push back against what they see as foolish partisan media questioning. Many familiar faces in left-leaning media have either stepped down or been let go, leaving someone like Rachel Maddow as a prominent player among the remaining voices.
  13. Trump’s approach to lowering oil prices was straightforward: “drill, baby, drill.” The slogan for eggs? “Let the babies sleep.” It’s been suggested he wants to incentivize higher birth rates through various means, including proposals for financial support for expectant parents—perhaps even free liquor to boost baby-making; who knows?
  14. AOC, on her speaking tour, hinted at her ambitions for the White House in 2028. Given the state of the country, she might be onto something; we could be looking for a bartender in the Oval Office by then.
  15. Interestingly, Trump suggested reopening Alcatraz as a prison where inmates would receive free meals, healthcare, and even surgeries—all while being treated equally by taxpayers. Only official guards would be armed. This plan might appeal to Californians, reflecting Democratic policies.
