Father’s daughter died from fentanyl while he assaulted her friend after drugging both on Thanksgiving, according to police.

A man is facing severe charges after allegedly drugging his 27-year-old daughter and her friend with fentanyl. This disturbing incident reportedly took place on Thanksgiving Day 2023, where Joshua Youngblood visited his daughter at her apartment, giving her a lethal dose of the drug. While his daughter was succumbing to the effects, he began to assault her friend.

Authorities announced on Tuesday that Youngblood has been charged with murder and sexual assault. According to special agent Kimball from Houston, “While his daughter was gradually dying from fentanyl, Youngblood began assaulting her daughter’s friend, who was also under the influence of the substance.”

At a press conference, the victim’s mother, Bernice Hawkins, directed her anger towards Youngblood, stating, “Josh, you’re a sneaky person. This is a heinous crime. Jade loved you and you took her from us.” She expressed a deep sorrow, hoping that he would face severe consequences for his actions.

Hawkins shared that she raised Youngblood’s daughter alone after getting pregnant in high school. “Josh was there when it was convenient for him, but as Jade grew older, it became about what she could do for him,” she reflected.

She added that her daughter had longed for a relationship with her father, providing him with chances that perhaps others wouldn’t have. Youngblood is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.

The unfolding events have been reported in local news broadcasts.
