Corey Bowman, Vance’s half-brother, progresses in his campaign for Cincinnati Mayor

Corey Bowman, GOP Candidate, Aims for Cincinnati Mayor

Corey Bowman, aged 36, is officially launching his campaign for Cincinnati mayor. He is the half-brother of Vice President J.D. Vance, sharing their father.

Vance expressed his support for Bowman, describing him as “a good guy with the heart to serve his community” in a recent post on X.

A bit Cincinnati! My brother Corey Bowman is running for mayor and today he is voting in the primary. He is a good man with a heart to serve his community. Go out there and vote for him!

Bowman, who is also the pastor at a Protestant church in Cincinnati, will be facing the incumbent mayor, Aftab Pureval, in the general election scheduled for November. He secured 12.91% of the votes during the primary, placing second behind Pureval. Both candidates outperformed a third Republican contender, Brian Frank, advancing to the fall election.

He revealed that attending Trump and Vance’s inauguration was a pivotal moment that inspired him to run for office. However, Bowman clarified in an interview with the Associated Press that his political path is distinctly his own.

“When it comes to my relationship with JD, I tell people he is my brother. [But] he’s not a political counselor to me,” Bowman remarked. “No one pushed me in. No one told me this was the way I should go. But I thought this was a great way to help influence cities in other areas as well, because it was always the focus.”
