Woman Stabbed 8 Times in French Village Rarely Affected by Crime for 50 Years

A British South African woman, Karen Carter, 65, was tragically found murdered in her home in Tremolat, a small village in southwestern France, on April 29th. Reports suggest she was stabbed to death.

The local authorities are investigating the case, focusing on individuals who might have had grievances against Carter or a man linked to her, who discovered her body. A neighbor, a 69-year-old woman, was briefly detained but later released.

Prior to the incident, Carter and Jean-Francois Guerrier, a 74-year-old local businessman, were reportedly seen together; they had managed a café in the community. Carter had been living in France since 2009, overseeing two vacation rental properties.

This quiet village, home to around 600 residents, hasn’t seen significant crime in nearly half a century, leaving friends and neighbors shocked by the shocking brutality of the attack.

Carter’s husband, also named Alain and living in South Africa, expressed deep sorrow and disbelief upon learning about his wife’s alleged affair and her violent death. He mentioned that it was through a cousin in Tremolat who saw the news on social media that he first heard about the tragedy.

Describing her as a warm and social person, he reflected on the trauma his family is facing due to this loss, emphasizing how well-liked she was in the community. He stated, “She’s an extrovert who enjoys and loves people. She has a good heart and is loved by everyone.”

As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with this case.
