Sisters Sentenced for Murder-Hire Plot
In a chilling case that unsettled many across the United States, a trio of sisters has been sentenced for their involvement in a murderous conspiracy. Sandra Grimes received a 70-month prison term for plotting to kill her son-in-law, Raul Mina, amid a contentious custody dispute with her daughter, Irma Nicole Bauer.
Her sisters, Judy Owen and Mitzi Smith, were also implicated and received sentences for their parts in the scheme.
Court documents revealed that Grimes first approached Rebecca Murphy in early 2024, seeking to have Mina killed through an injection of lethal heroin, aiming to disguise the act as an accident. Unfortunately for them, their initial attempt to hire an assassin went awry when he vanished with their payment.
Murphy recounted that the sisters financed her trip to Louisiana, even providing funds to purchase drugs. However, when the time came for the planned murder outside the courthouse, Murphy hesitated and ultimately contacted federal authorities instead.
The investigation further uncovered that Grimes had supplied Murphy with unregistered firearms and ammunition, even involving Murphy’s girlfriend in the plot.
Ultimately, Grimes pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges related to murder and firearms. Owen was sentenced to ten years, while Smith was handed a lesser sentence. Both Murphy and her girlfriend received five-year prison terms for their roles in the conspiracy.
This disturbing case has ignited anger and debate regarding the extremes of familial disputes.
