Trump Discloses Ed Martin’s Outcome After Important GOP Senator Withdraws Backing

Trump Withdraws Ed Martin’s Nomination for U.S. Attorney

President Donald Trump declared on Thursday his intention to pull Ed Martin’s nomination for U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C. This decision comes after Republican Senator Tom Tillis from North Carolina indicated he would not support Martin.

In a conversation with Daily Caller’s Reagan Reese, Trump mentioned having another candidate in mind and suggested the possibility of assigning Martin to a different role within the Department of Justice (DOJ).

“We have some amazing people, and I want to say Ed is incredibly incredible,” he noted.

Trump expressed disappointment regarding Tillis’ lack of support for Martin. “He’s a great person, but he didn’t get support from the people I thought he would,” Trump remarked.

He praised Martin’s contributions as U.S. Attorney in D.C., claiming crime rates had dropped by 25% during his tenure. “I’m very disappointed with it, but I have so many different things now that I do in the trade,” Trump added.

He reiterated his feelings of disappointment, saying, “It was a shame for me. Be honest. I have to be straight, I was disappointed; a lot of people were disappointed, but that’s how it works sometimes.”

Trump also mentioned that the White House plans to announce new candidates within the next two days.
