Illinois Governor Pritzker allegedly hindered ICE actions.

Border Officials Criticize Illinois Sanctuary Policy

Tom Homan, a prominent border official, has criticized Illinois Governor JB Pritzker over the state’s sanctuary policies that offer protections to undocumented immigrants. Homan argues that Pritzker has misrepresented the situation, particularly in light of a recent protest led by Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem, who was accompanied by affected families demanding change.

During an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Homan accused Pritzker of deception regarding the sanctuary policies in Chicago. He remarked, “He continues to lie, especially about the status of the state’s sanctuary city in Chicago. One of the first places President Trump visited after taking office was Chicago. On that first day, we arrested around nine gang members.”

Homan stressed that law enforcement was actively detaining serious criminals, including individuals convicted of murder, suggesting that many dangerous people were walking freely. He emphasized the importance of addressing these crimes and revealed that several arrests involved child predators in Chicago.

Secretary Noem held a press conference with the Angel Families group near the governor’s mansion, advocating for an end to the sanctuary policies. The event was marked by discussions on tragic incidents linked to illegal immigration, including the murder of 24-year-old Emma Schafer. Her alleged murderer faces serious charges and was reportedly in a relationship with her at the time of the incident.

Noem urged Pritzker and other state leaders to reconsider their stance on sanctuary policies. “I am calling on Governor Pritzker to abandon this dangerous sanctuary policy,” she stated, questioning where the compassion is for families affected by crime. An Angel Family member expressed frustration, calling for strict adherence to federal laws and suggesting that anyone, regardless of age, should be deported.

In response, Governor Pritzker accused the Trump administration of violating constitutional rights and compromising legitimate immigration processes. He defended Illinois’s practices, emphasizing adherence to the law while criticizing the Trump administration’s approach as harmful to public safety and the rights of lawful residents.

Homan countered these statements, calling Pritzker’s remarks disrespectful to professionals working against illegal immigration. He reiterated Trump’s focus on public safety and insisted that the deportation of families should not overshadow the enforcement of the law against serious offenders.
