On Thursday, President Trump appeared on Fox News, discussing the administration’s latest moves and introducing Janine Piro as a co-host. Piro currently serves as the District of Columbia’s interim US attorney.
Trump praised her, stating, “Janine is very well qualified for this position and is seen as one of the top lawyers in New York’s history. She’s exceptional.”
He also extended congratulations to her during the segment.
Earlier that day, Trump took over Ed Martin’s nomination for the role of the capital’s chief federal prosecutor, following support from Senate Republicans.
Commenting on Martin, Trump mentioned, “He was a great guy, but unfortunately, he didn’t get the backing I expected.”
He added, “I could pick up that phone several times a day, but we have other excellent candidates.”
