On Thursday evening, chaos erupted at a New York City university when anti-Israel activists attempted to set up encampments on campus.
NYPD officers were dispatched to Brooklyn University after a protestor resisted dismantling a tent.
According to police, fourteen individuals were arrested.
Footage captured activists adorned in keffiyehs, shouting aggressively as police worked to manage a chaotic crowd.
“Stop pushing people in! Stop crushing people!” a female protester was heard yelling.
“Get out F-K! Get F-K!” another voice called out.
In one intense moment, police pursued a man while he cried out, pulling his shirt back as they approached.
Officers advised a woman to remove a child from the escalating situation, saying, “Leave that baby out of here now! Get that baby out of here!”
Another video depicted officers restraining protesters on the ground, who were screaming in protest.
The woman in the crowd was heard saying, “The police are out of control.”
Brooklyn College stated that the protesters had “built a tent in violation of university policies” and that, after several warnings, CUNY Public Safety and NYPD dismantled the tent and dispersed the crowd.
The college emphasized that the safety of its community is its priority, acknowledging the right to protest while enforcing rules to ensure access to educational facilities.
This turmoil occurred just a day after over 100 anti-Israel demonstrators invaded the Butler Library at Columbia University, disrupting students who were trying to prepare for finals. Reports indicate that the NYPD made 80 arrests at that location as well.
