On Thursday, Jaden Higgins made a significant mark in NFL history.
This milestone achieved by the rookie wide receiver might just leave 31 other NFL teams feeling upset with the franchise that chose him.
Higgins officially signed his rookie contract with the Houston Texans, securing a fully guaranteed four-year deal worth $11,700,824. This contract is historic, as it’s the first time a second-round pick has received a fully guaranteed deal.
The Texans selected Higgins with the 34th pick in the second round. After the selection, general manager Nick Caserio expressed enthusiasm about Higgins’s journey from being an “irresponsible” high school player to becoming an “NFL Player.”
However, this contract could pave the way for future second-round picks to secure similar fully guaranteed deals, leading to potential frustration among the other teams. Take the Miami Dolphins, for instance; they are in the midst of negotiations with their own second-round pick and have indicated that after Higgins’s deal was made public, those discussions became “probably more complicated.”
Only the unsigned draft dolphin topic is Jonah Sabainaire. That negotiation was probably more complicated when the Texans gave the Texans the first fully guaranteed second-round contract in NFL history yesterday. https://t.co/an94iddyqt

Jared Mueller humorously suggested that if the Dolphins’ second-round pick fails to sign, the Texans should be held responsible.
