Ceasefire Announced Between India and Pakistan
On May 10, 2025, President Donald Trump declared a “complete immediate ceasefire” between India and Pakistan, marking a significant step amid ongoing tensions between the two nations.
In a post addressing the situation, the President expressed relief over the decision that resulted from a long night of discussions facilitated by the United States. He emphasized the importance of diplomacy in resolving conflicts.
“We are pleased to announce that after extensive talks mediated by the US, India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire,” Trump stated. “Congratulations to both countries for utilizing common sense and great intelligence. Thank you for addressing this matter.”
This announcement follows previous remarks by Vice President J.D. Vance, who indicated that the US did not intend to engage directly in the conflict. He suggested that the US role should focus on encouraging moderation rather than involvement in the complex situation.
“What we can do is try to encourage these people to escalate a bit, but basically none of our businesses are involved in the midst of a war that has nothing to do with America’s ability to control it,” Vance remarked.
Earlier, India had launched military operations against targets in Pakistan as well as regions administered by Pakistan in Kashmir. The Indian government stated that these actions aimed to dismantle what they described as “terrorist infrastructure” following an attack in which 26 individuals were killed in Indian-administered Kashmir. This incident has been labeled the “most deadly attack” on Indian civilians in recent times. Pakistan, however, has denied involvement in the attacks.
