Carville criticizes progressive Democrats, stating they are ‘not worth the hassle’

Democratic strategists James Carville and Representative Ro Khanna have been called out by lawmakers Ilhan Omar and D. Maich regarding comments made about white people. During a recent episode of the Political War Room podcast, Khanna emphasized that Democrats should kick off their speeches with an assertion that “America is the greatest country in the world.”

Carville criticized the Democratic party, particularly its progressive faction associated with Omar, stating that they inflict more damage than help. He described himself as a liberal Democrat but mentioned, “I don’t like it—just say it—the progressive wing is fine.” He suggested that these individuals might be more trouble than they’re worth and hinted they should separate from the main party.

Carville posed a critical question about the rhetoric used by progressives, asking, “Why are we trying to alienate a third of those we’re looking to vote for?” He argued that such divisive language could be detrimental to the party’s efforts.

Khanna also shared his perspective, particularly on Omar’s past comments regarding white Americans, saying he disagreed with her sentiment. He reflected on the contributions of white Americans throughout history, mentioning, “I think white Americans have done something enormous for our freedom.” He pointed out the significance of their role during events like D-Day.

Continuing the discussion, Khanna argued that Democrats should start their speeches with affirmations about America’s strengths. He stated, “These are the things that Democrats should say in every speech: ‘America is the greatest country in the world. It is the most open country in the world. It has its flaws, but we want to improve it.’”

Carville responded to Khanna’s suggestions, urging the need for the party to convey a positive message rather than focusing on negative sentiments towards certain demographics. He questioned how the party could hope to succeed if they projected hostility toward a significant portion of voters.

Omar’s office has not yet provided a recent comment following these statements, although she previously referred to the rise of white nationalism and cited reports indicating a high percentage of extremist-related violence by white individuals.
