Trump Approves Order to Create National Center for Homeless Veterans

Trump Signs Executive Order for National Center for Homeless Veterans

President Donald Trump has officially signed an executive order aimed at creating a National Center for Homeless Veterans.

The order instructs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to set up this center at the veteran affairs campus located in West Los Angeles.

“The new National Center for Warriors Independence will assist veterans in rebuilding their lives,” stated the White House.

According to officials, this center will provide veterans nationwide with access to “qualified” care, services, and benefits.

“It will focus on fostering self-sufficiency through housing, treating substance abuse, and supporting the productive work of veterans,” the White House added.

The plan is to accommodate up to 6,000 homeless veterans at the center by 2028.

Additionally, the executive order encourages the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to use vouchers to assist homeless veterans and emphasizes the need for accountability within the Veterans Affairs Bureau. It also calls for action against fraudulent practices and reconsideration of the previous administration’s decisions regarding employees terminated for fraud.

Improvements in care, benefits, and service options for veterans are also prioritized. This includes expanded hours, weekend appointments, and reduced waiting times for appointments in the Veterans Health Department, leveraging virtual health care. Furthermore, the Manchester VA Medical Center is tasked with assessing the feasibility of expanding services at the full-service medical center in New Hampshire.

According to the White House, “President Trump strongly believes that all veterans deserve our gratitude and that the federal government should treat veterans as the heroes they are.”
