Another person taken into custody over the death of a man on a cruise ship in the UK

Second Man Arrested in Cruise Ship Death Investigation

Authorities have arrested a second individual in relation to the death of a 60-year-old man aboard a cruise ship.

James Messm, hailing from Shoreham by Sea in West Sussex, died following a “disagreement” while navigating British waters on Saturday, May 3rd, during a fleeting trip to Belgium.

A 57-year-old man from Exeter, Devon, was initially taken into custody on suspicion of murder but has since been released while investigations continue, according to Hampshire Constabulary.

The police have since confirmed the arrest of a second man, now suspected of manslaughter.

A spokesperson shared, “This second individual was detained as part of the investigation into the death of a 60-year-old man aboard the MSC Virtuosa on Saturday, May 3rd, around 8:30 PM.”

The arrested individual, a 56-year-old from Richmond, London, is currently in custody facing manslaughter charges.

Additionally, officials are seeking information from anyone who departed Southampton around 6 PM that Saturday and remained on the vessel while at sea.

Messm, who hosted the travel show “Miss Sham’s Death Wall,” was remembered fondly by a friend on social media, who described him as a “great showman.”
