Masked thief invades New York City residence

In New York City, there’s been a surge in burglaries involving robbers disguised in burqas.

The NYPD is on high alert following an incident last week where bandits in traditional Muslim attire broke into a home in Queens, making off with valuable jewelry.

The thief managed to slip into the residence through the kitchen window around 5:30 PM, then left the scene with the homeowner’s belongings.

Photos shared on social media by 109th District police revealed a fully covered burglar casually walking near Oak Avenue and 163rd Street, not seeming overly concerned.

The 27-year-old homeowner filed a report after realizing the gem had been stolen, though the theft’s value was not disclosed.

Interestingly, police were uncertain whether the robber was male or female, or whether they identified as Muslim.

Burqas, which typically cover the body entirely, are traditionally worn by women in Muslim communities, yet they can also serve as effective disguises.

In a related note, supermodel Gisele Bündchen famously wore a burqa during a visit to a plastic surgeon in Paris back in 2015.
