Progress in US-China Trade Talks Reported

Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent announced on Sunday that considerable advancements were achieved with China during significant trade discussions held in Switzerland, with further details expected on Monday.

Following a period of escalating tariffs between the US and China, Bescent informed Fox News that he would be meeting with Chinese representatives in Switzerland on Saturday. In a statement from the White House, he expressed gratitude towards the Swiss government for facilitating the Geneva discussions, highlighting the “great productivity” of the talks.

“We are pleased to report that we have made great progress between the US and China in very important trade negotiations,” he stated. “First of all, we’d like to thank our Swiss hosts. The Swiss government was very kind to provide this wonderful venue.”

Bescent continued, mentioning Ambassador Jamieson and the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister along with two Deputy Ministers, all working collaboratively. He also communicated with President Trump, ensuring he is fully briefed on the developments, adding that a complete briefing would take place the following morning.
