WWE has announced the passing of Sub, a wrestling icon celebrated for his intense and hardcore style. He was 60 years old.
Sub’s last match took place during WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas, where he faced Joey Janela from Gamechanger Wrestling, and notably, it did not feature barbed wire on the ropes.
The news of his death was initially reported by pwinsider.com.
“WWE is saddened to learn that Terry Blank, known to wrestling fans as Sub, has passed away,” the organization stated. “Our condolences go out to his family, friends, and fans.”
“He was a pioneer and a transformative figure in wrestling. So many found inspiration in his performances within the GCW ring, and his impact will resonate for generations,” they continued.
Sub, known as Sheikh in WWE, was the nephew of Ed Farhatt and held multiple championships across various promotions.
Throughout his career, Sub made appearances in numerous wrestling organizations, including All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling, Extreme Championship Wrestling, and many more.
