The Chicago Sky have finalized their roster for 2025, announcing cuts ahead of the WNBA’s opening night.
On Sunday, the team revealed that Alex Wilson, Jessika Carter, and Morgan Bertsch were released from the training camp. With these cuts, only 12 players remain as the league’s season approaches rapidly.
As a result of this decision, the 2025 draft picks, Hailey Van Liss (11th overall) and Maddie Westveld (16th overall), seem to have a strong chance of securing spots on the final roster.
Players Cut: Alex Wilson, Jessika Carter, Morgan Bertsch
Alex Wilson is an Australian player with a background in overseas leagues since 2010. At 31 years old, she was recognized on the All-WNBL’s first team in 2025 but has yet to compete in the WNBA.
Jessika Carter, standing at 6’5″, was drafted by the New York Liberty in 2024. During her college career at Mississippi, she averaged 11.4 points and 7.4 rebounds.
Morgan Bertsch was the 29th overall pick by the Dallas Wings in 2019 after a college stint at UC Davis. The 6’4″ forward had been with the Wings, Sky, and Phoenix Mercury, and her 2023 season stats showed she averaged 14.2 minutes across 28 games.
