Representative Jasmine Crockett from Texas mentioned that Democrats are attentive to a “safeest white boy” candidate for the 2028 presidential election, indicating that “a certain candidate” is being considered by party donors in a podcast discussion this week.
“It’s alarming when party members in the primary support women because whenever we have, we haven’t succeeded yet,” she stated in an Instagram clip. “It’s a reasonable fear; we simply want to win.”
This discussion, hosted by SiriusXM’s Clay Cane, is part of the “Urban View” town hall series, with the complete conversation set to air on May 15th.
“It’s true, and to clarify, when we mention these candidates, I can assure you that there are specific individuals,” said the Texas representative. “I had donors telling me that all the support was behind this candidate.”
She referred to Democratic donors as “them” during the discussion, implying they are aligned with former President Biden.
Among potential 2028 Democratic candidates, there are names like California Governor Gavin Newsom, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Minnesota’s Tim Walz, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and former Vice President Kamala Harris, despite past losses in 2024.
Harris recently attended a notable Democratic National Committee fundraising dinner, marking her return to the political scene.
According to reports from Semafor and Politico, Crockett is interested in taking influential roles within the House Oversight Committee and is seeking backing from her Democratic peers.
Politico also noted that Crockett expressed to her colleagues that the current situation is “made for now,” referencing the Democrats’ intent to confront Trump more aggressively.
Lawmakers have made various remarks recently, emphasizing their stance against Trump.
