Coast Guard video captures intense arrest of suspected drug traffickers at sea.

Coast Guard’s Drug Interception in the Eastern Pacific

A striking video has surfaced, showcasing Coast Guard personnel effectively combating drug trafficking in the Eastern Pacific. This operation took place on April 17 and involved members of the US Coast Guard Cutter Kimball (WMSL 756).

The footage, captured by Third Class Petty Officer Austin Wiley, depicts the crew quickly approaching a suspect involved in drug smuggling activities.

In the video, service members can be heard yelling “Hand-Up!” in Spanish as they confront the vessel suspected of being involved in smuggling.

Following this, the suspect was instructed to lie face down with arms outstretched. The Coast Guard crew promptly boarded the boat and made an arrest.

The Coast Guard commented on this operation, noting that it illustrates the complexities of tackling illegal activities in the vast ocean. Kimball, initially focused on aerial surveillance, transitioned to tactical law enforcement, ultimately using force to neutralize the vessel to ensure safety for other maritime traffic.

Throughout five separate operations, the Kimball crew seized an impressive $214 million worth of drugs, which were later offloaded in San Diego.

“Illegal drugs present a significant menace to Americans,” the Coast Guard emphasized, highlighting the dedication of their personnel in preventing these substances from reaching the country’s shores.
