Harrison Burton’s NASCAR Comeback
Harrison Burton is gearing up for his second NASCAR circuit, returning after parting ways with Wood Racing last year. He’s made strides in the Xfinity Series, achieving six top-10 finishes, including three in his latest races—much improved from just two last year.
As the Indy 500 draws near, Burton shares that he’s excited about the prospect of racing in it. “I like to race anything,” he mentioned in a recent conversation.
Burton has had success at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, finishing third in his debut there in 2022. His passion for motorsports fuels his interest in the Indy 500. “I watch every weekend—IndyCar, Rallycross, Formula E, Motocross. I love it! If the chance comes, I’d definitely consider it,” he said.
Despite his enthusiasm for various racing formats, Burton emphasizes his commitment to NASCAR: “It’s my real passion, and I don’t want to move away from it. Driving a cup car in Indy was one of the coolest things I’ve experienced,” he reflected, expressing admiration for the Indy 500 and the rich history surrounding it.
While he waits for his chance to hit the track in July, Burton shared some thoughts on racing at Indy, saying it’s intense: “You’re just staring at the wall the whole time. It’s a 90-degree turn, and you really start to think about where you’d hit if you miss it.” He adds that it’s thrilling to be in such historic places, making achievements there all the more significant.
Although Talladega had its own charm, Burton notes that the atmosphere is unmatched. Looking ahead, he will return to the track on May 24 for the BetMGM 300 in Charlotte, just a day before the milestone Indy 500.
