Nearly nine years after a traumatic incident in Paris, Kim Kardashian took the stand to recount the details of a robbery where she was targeted for her expensive jewelry.
During her testimony, she spoke about the sheer terror she felt, fearing for her life as the incident unfolded. “He grabs my leg and pulls me. I’m naked, all of my things are exposed. I was sure I was going to be raped,” she recounted tearfully.
Kim also shared chilling words from her sister Kourtney, who had rushed back to the hotel. Kourtney expressed her fear, saying, “I thought I would be killed in my bed.” Kim confirmed her own fear, stating, “I thought I would definitely die,” in response to a question from Judge David De Pas.
In March, reports surfaced that Kardashian would return to Paris to testify in this case nearly a decade later. Her lawyer mentioned that while she had agreed to share her story, she preferred not to delve into excessive details at this point, emphasizing her respect for the French judicial system.
This incident dates back to October 2016 when Kardashian attended Paris Fashion Week. While in her hotel room, she was confronted by masked assailants who bound her and stole approximately $10 million in jewelry, including a $4 million wedding ring gifted by her then-husband Kanye West.
In a 2020 interview, Kim recalled the terrifying moment the robbers entered, yelling at her in French and demanding her ring. “They kept saying, ‘Ring. Ring,’” she remembered. One of the robbers physically grabbed her during the encounter.
Desperate to survive, she pleaded with the robber, explaining her responsibilities as a mother and wife. “I said, ‘Okay, this is when I get raped,'” she reflected, describing how she was bound using various restraints.
Once the robbers left, Kim managed to free herself and seek help from hotel staff. Following the incident, she cooperated with the Parisian authorities before departing the country via a private jet.
A total of ten individuals were implicated in the robbery, including the mastermind Yunis Abbas. Yet, police suggested that the crime might have involved an inside job. In a 2022 interview, Abbas shockingly expressed no remorse for the crime and claimed that Kim’s social media presence had inspired the robbery.
